Hi all, I'm just at the point of buying an Omlet Cube: can everyone reassure me i'm doing the right thing by spending this amount of money. They look amazing and i'm most concerned about being red mite free and draught free etc. All you guys have them - am I doing the right thing??

thank you guys - just finding my way around the forum. Will do some searching. i have five ladies at the moment - all ex-batts who are wonderful. I'm hooked. I bought a new wooden hen house when I got them in July but i'm very disappointed in the quality and can see already how draughty it is - hence the investment.

Hello and welcome to the Forum!!!!!!!!

I started out with an Eglu Classic last Summer to house three ex-batts. Morehens Disease Struck pretty quickly though and I have since upgraded to a Cube and can honestly say I have not regretted it once. I can't compare them with any other sort of housing 'cos I've only ever had Omlet products, but I can honestly say I've loved chicken keeping (I was a very anxious first timer last year!) and I'm sure you'll love it.

Any problems, post on here, everyone is FULL of fantastic info, very helpful (and incredibly patient with my endless dim questions!!!)

Good luck with your new Cube!!! (What colour are you getting?)

I am like Bramble. Got a classic and 3 ex batts last year and upgraded to the cube a few months later. Yes they are expensive but worth every penny. Usually spend about an hour cleaning it if that, every weekend and then a big clean every 3-4 months. Its easy to look after and although I have never had another type of house I have had no pest problems so far. Just beware of morehens if you get one. It is very contageous

thank you everyone - sounds really good. I like the fact that it can be cleaned quickly and thoroughly because I feel i'm never really getting my current one really clean - too many joins and cracks and holes that get messy. Going to go for it. Roll on pay day on Monday. Will buy it then.

It will look so wonderfully colourful in the garden - especially since we are expecting lots of snow up here in Scotland soon!!!!

Hi & welcome from me too. I do hope your forecast is mistaken. It was this time last year that saw the beginning of our 6mth winter :!: Have a look in the "get together" section. Some of us are meeting up at the German Market in a couple of weeks. You would be welcome to join us. Alli x :D
