auntielizzie
At long long last, having started moulting around 26th September (8 weeks ago ), I think I can finally say that Bessie has finally finished moulting No feathers to clear up at the weekend and this morning her comb definitely looks a bit brighter and even a little bigger again Thank goodness for that, I thought it would never end Don't know what to expect in the egg department though - just have to wait and see I suppose. Anyway, she's looking great again and her mood has improved a lot too - she even lets me pick her up again
docsquid
That's good news. One of mine has been moulting for weeks too, but is finally feathering up. Depends what sort of chook she is. My little brown hybrids lay again quite quickly, perhaps with a softie or two to start with, and we had eggs more or less all year last year. For pure breeds, I think you'll wait until after Christmas before they lay again. It all depends on the chook, of course!
blueandwhite
Glad to hear that, it's difficult getting hold of all the feathers to clear up! Phoebe is now getting her feathers back but Ebay has decided to loose a few. I'm hoping not as many as poor Phoebe who just looks (and obviously feels) awful. I wonder why they do it at this time of year? Phoebe has stood shivering the last few days.
