Alis girls
Having been eggless nearly all week due to one hen moulting and one either too cold, old or just not in the mood _ i found an egg in the run. Of course it was so far in had to get a cane to fish it out carefully. Wondered if it had rolled out of Eglu or someone was taken off guard " oops ooh I've laid an egg" I was happy having had no eggs all week and thinking I'd have to buy some. Patricia W
One of my new ex-bats did this before she sussed out where she could "go". Bless! Pleased you got one anyway.
ohcarolina
Mine do this every so often. If one's in the Classic nest box they'll lay on the roosting bars and then I like to think one of them must get the urge to play footbal
surfer_chicken
Sometimes mine just get lazy (especially if they're sunbathing in summer) and lay where they're sitting to avoid moving. Lazy so-and-sos
House MD 221B
we've had one lay in the run before, but 99.99% of the time ALWAYS in the eglu... until one day we found one behind the shed??? god knows what possessed her to go all the way round there to lay one. Lavenders_Blue
We had this earlier in the year - on a couple of occasions we found an egg in the run for no apparent reason. They have to go upstairs to the nest box so it couldn't have rolled out. Either caught short or there was perhaps already a nest box resident who wasn't willing to share?!
