clucker1
It was minus one this morning when I was out poo picking (for the horse!) My whole body was hot, but my fingers and hands were freezing with 2 pairs of gloves on, one woolly pair and one (allegedly thermal) pair. I was so cold, I had to give up (not normal for me!) Has anyone any recommendations houw to keep your hands warm when outdoors?
Redwing
I have a pair of silk glove liners that I bought from ebay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100-Pure-Silk-Liner-gloves-Inner-Gloves-Medium-M-/130272156595?pt=UK_Sporting_Goods_Skiing_Snowboarding_Clothing_LE&hash=item1e54d35bb3 and then wear these over them http://www.amazon.co.uk/Showa-Thermo-Insulated-Gloves-Small/dp/B000PTKMF4/ref=sr_1_3?s=outdoors&ie=UTF8&qid=1323552636&sr=1-3 They also make rubber gloves that are warmer than normal ones, I am a big fan of Showa gloves but they have to be the genuine ones not the cheapo copies I've tried all sorts since since I moved to the country a few years ago but this is the best combination I have found for mucky field work and mucking out etc.. Cinnamon
Totes gloves are just as good as their Toastie socks. My daughter, who has poor circulation, swears by them. They even have ones where you can still use a touchscreen,as they have special bits in the finger tips.....great stocking filller!
Egluntyne
I wear cheap fleece type gloves, with a pair of Marigolds over the top, as I always manage to get them wet when I'm topping up drinkers.
Snowy
A few years back when I rode, I bought a pair of Woof Wear gloves - they are neoprene backed with soft suede palms. They are superb - they keep my hands very warm and there is minimal loss of sensitivity. They are not 100% waterproof, but because they are neoprene, water doesn't really get through them, if it does, your hands stay warm. I've snowballed in them and they are perfect. They were not cheap but really are good.
clucker1
Thank you everyone for your suggestions...I have tried liners and then marigolds before and my fingers dropped off then. Since last winter the circulation in my fingers has become really bad and my fingers suffer when it is very cold...they nearly drop off! Need something to combat this...has anyone tried these or something similar:http://www.primrose.co.uk/heated-gloves-c-37_1189.html?source=googleads&gclid=CNSPj--8-qwCFVQLfAodyEx2SQ
Cinnamon
Motorcyclists wear heated gloves, wired up to their bikes - my husband swears by his.
clucker1
Thanks for that Cinnamon....it sounds as if heated gloves are the way to go. I have been wondering what David Attenbrough and his team wear when they have been filming Frozen Planet. Brrr...just thinking about that cold. Those heated gloves on the linky bit have been on the Alan Titmarsh show...so I hope they are ok.
Cinnamon
Have you tried the Totes ones? My daughters fingers are always blue & she loves hers...I see that Uggs do some wonderful sheepskin ones too. it is also worth looking on the Reynauds Syndrome website,as they have a shop which sells silver liners & the like. clucker1
Thank you Cinnamon...I have looked at the Totes website and am completely lost ... there is so much to choose from. Do you know which ones your daughter has?
Cinnamon
Just the big standard Totes knitted gloves,I think. She also has the smart touch ones, for screen use.
Spinning Top
I skydive and it got to -30 in the door of the plane last winter..... I REALLY want feeling in my hands when it comes to the time to pull my parachute out and fly it so I use silk liners under my usual gloves. Either follow Redwing's ebay link (dead cheap!) or go to your local motorcycle dealer where they're about £12. Or you could use the handwarmer pads that you pre-heat in hot water. They keep your palms warm so the blood still gets through to your fingers but they can be a bit bulky.
clucker1
Thanks for that ST. I have just ordered the silk liners.

The Dogmother
I have these Good Hands riding gloves - very snug and they have grippy palms too. At £4.99 it'd be rude not to!
