Mr Rhode Island Red
Yesterday, the man who scans the sheep came to scan my 6 ewes. After 20 minutes of waiting, I decided to run inside to get some paper to take down notes etc. and when I came back to the field...the scanner had come and gone. He had scanned the ewes and marked them with dye, and then left. I can't believe I missed it Anyway, Scan results, 3 ewes are carrying 2 lambs (twins) 3 ewes are carrying 3 lambs (triplets) ______________________________ = 15 lambs I'm going to have my work cut out, Wish me luck Mr Rhode Island Red,

Lewis
Ahh ok, was half way there Our Welsh Mules (commercials) at the farms are Blue Faced Leicester X Welsh mountain, then put to a Charollais terminal sire to give good lambs. At the Uni farm we've got BLF, Texel, Suffolk, Lleyn and other pure breeds and they're a Performance Recorded Flock so have to write down everything we do or see, inc weighing feed, lambs etc... Can be a pain at 4am but its good and soon get used to it, just confusing lambing on 3 farms and doing different stuff at each one!

craftyhunnypie
The bloke over the stream has some rather plump looking ewes, so am expecting to see some lambs around May time here. Will have to check on their dye markings! Also neighbours in the Smallholding next door have some Cornish sheep ( not so good in Windy West Wales), but the black ram has been very active & so think there will be a few lambs there too! They've not had them scanned though as yet. Emma.x
