Lewis
What kind of doves are they? I guess larger outdoor... I've got 5 Diamond Doves which are little indoor birds, kept similarly to budgies. I started off with a pair who regularly lay and sit on eggs, but the eggs are so small that they can crack easily. The babies hatch too but can get squashed or cold - I had one both at the start of this week but unfortunately died. Saying that I've got 3 babies that are now adults
scubababe
Awww how sad but beautiful. My MIL used to keep doves. They were the talk of the village. So elegant.
Ain't Nobody Here
Jillus has doves but hasn't been on the forum for a few months. Can't believe I remembered her name just like that .
Lavenders_Blue
A girl I used to work with a few years ago kept doves. She got them as adults, not babies but I seem to remember she had to net them into the dovecote for a few weeks to 'home' them. Even so, one disappeared as soon as she removed the netting and was last seen fraternising with the local pigeon population They also used to breed like crazy and she was forever removing eggs otherwise she would have ended up with hundreds of them! quickcluck
She has Fantail and half fantail from what I can gather, I think they are white and bigger in size.... Not sure when the eggs get laid and hatched or how old the chicks are when they can be separated from the mummies.... Any ideas???
Lewis
If they're anything like mine they lay all year round - mine are pretty much fully grown at a month Guessing they'd be a couple more weeks as they're bigger though
