Coop and run on concrete??

Recommended Posts

I have a coop and run that I have brought as my girls are not getting along so I've had to seperate them for a while. I was wondering would it make it fox proof If i put it on slabs, the girls will be able to free range a lot so I'm not concerned about them not being to forage whist in the run when I'm out and I will hang plenty of things up so they have something to do

I just want to make it fox proof,

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Hi, well foxes can't dig through concrete so they wouldn't be able to dig in. I've not heard of them getting through slabs.

Is the wire of the run tough so they can't bite their way through and is it roofed so a fox can't jump in. Is the house in good condition and strong? If so then yes they would be. :D

Hi Leonie

Our Walk In Run is on a concrete base, 18 feet x 6 feet. The run has a roof that is 2 feet wider all over than the run, so the run is always dry and pleasant - especially on a winter's night, raining, cold and windy. The hens like to go out on the lawn into their grass pens during the day when I can let them, but they always love to get "home". It has a bed of Aubiose and it's dead easy to keep clean, just like a horse's stable. Foxes ain't got a hope - Mr Wolfie built it! I'm pretty sure slabs would work the same, as long as they are on a flat solid base to start with. Go for it!
