A HUGE step forwards..(well for me it was!)....

Recommended Posts

... some of you might recall that my hens were attacked by my neighbours terrier about a month ago??

Since then Sunny (white chicken) has been back in lay for about 2 weeks now, allowing me to pick her up etc, no worries there at all. Eva (Bluebelle) who was badly bitten on her back and rump has been flighty and hand shy ever since (and understandably so too!) about a week ago she started eating mealworms out of the bucket whilst I was holding it :D we have since progressed to eating corn out of a mug I have been holding and even taking the odd cherry tomato off me too :D

Today, whilst out free-ranging, she allowed me not once but twice to pick her up  she was never the easiest to handle prior to the attack, but today she grudgingly allowed me to check her all over, and apart from the hard skin on her back from the attack she is in fine fettle Bless Her! Rump feathers growing back in nicely and some new one's on her back too, had to end it there as she was getting very annoyed by then so I put her down and....

She then proceeded to take her temper out on one of the 2 new girls through the (purple eglu) run wall, Betzy stood her ground though Bless Her!! :) It was quite comical actually watching them standing up to each other whilst telling each other their Momma's favourite cookie recipe's! :D:D:D

More on the new additions later when I have had a chance to get some decent pics of them both but we have been joined by 2 GNRGNR Warren ladies, Betzy & Ditzy, fate works in extraordinary ways is all I can say at the moment!:angel:
