Caught cats tail in door

Recommended Posts

Hi OH was coming in house tonight and as he slammed the front door (doesn't know how to close it normally) the cat ran out and tail got caught in door. A lump of fur came off and you can see the tip of the tail which has started bleeding a bit. She is eating and drinking and seems quite happy. I can take her to the vet tomorrow after work or weds. Do I need to do anything in the mean time?

Thnak you

Oh dear, poor puss - the cat I had as a teenager lost the tip of his tail after a car accident (he also lost a leg, so the tail tip was pretty insignificant in the scheme of things!) It healed up perfectly, so fingers crossed that your pusscat will be fine.

Oh dear, what a shame.

When i first adopted my dog (three years ago) she had been in kennels for a while and because she tended to wag her tail a lot, she kept hitting it on the kennel wall which meant she was in danger of losing the end of her tail for a while, but it did heal itself and (fingers crossed) she has had no further problems.

Puddy will be fine, with or without a full complement of tail, it's traumatic for you all, but cats have rather more "lives" to use up than we do!

Let us know how she gets on!!!

Back from vets. She is Very cross as she has a collar on. The kids think the shaved end of tail looks like an appendix (friend just had his removed!). i think I am going to have to keep the 2 cats separated as lucky wants to play with the tail ...... it is just too tempting!
