Luton Airport Pick up silly question

Recommended Posts

Hi

I have never picked anyone up from Luton airport and am really confused!

I have been told to wait up the road get my passengers to ring me when they are out of the terminal and for £1 for 10mins I can pick them up?? Do I head for arrivals ?? Anyone know Luton Airport.

The airport seem to have one of those expensive phone lines if you ring for an enquiry? Seems rip of Britain here??

Will be grateful if anyone familiar.

Thank you Donald :?

Yes, OH picked my up and that was the only way. Of course I had my mobile phone.

Thank you I have some school children to pick up and so you can imagine how this is going to work out!!!

I dont mind paying a small fee to park for a while but if I miss them am reading ie £7.50 for half hour etc.

I have got hands free so will ensure they are ready to jump in etc...

Another silly question do you park and pay and display for the 10minutes or is it take a ticket etc??? Do I head for Arrivals to pick them up or a drop off point??? Is it the same place??>

Sorry I am so stupid!

OH says, yes head for arrives. It's clearly sign posted to the collection area. She said it's possible to go around (before going though the pay barrier) to kill time if you're a little early. It takes about 5 minutes to get back (one loop).

The exit from the arrives hall is up a slope and quite visible, but It''s all a little hectic in the pickup area if I remember.

It's not a big airport so I don't think it will be obvious when you get there.

Edit. OH says it's pay as you leave - chuck the money in style, like some toll bridges.

Yes Donald, the info. you've been given is correct, and the above posts helpful. It's still (only just  ) a small airport so pick up is easy if done this way, thank goodness for mobile phones.

You don't want to be going into this area until you know your passengers are leaving the building. Good luck!

If you look at Luton Airport on Google maps and switch to the satellite view, then you can get a clear idea of the layout, which might help. I flew from there last year, and although we used an off-site car park, there is a road call (funnily enough) Airport Approach which allows you to drive round in a loop if they aren't there when you arrive.

I used to do pick-ups there a lot when I lived nearby and it's easy enough for them to call you when they are by the arrivals door so that you can drive in to collect them, they just need to walk down past the bus stops towards you.

whilst I think people usually get through quite quickly as it's a small airport sometimes there can be serious delays at immigration. I was there with my BIL picking up a friend of his as a surprise pickup so we'd parked and gone into the building and the additional delay just getting through immigration was well over an hour (I think it was closer to 2 hrs)

Well I parked up nearby and waited for the call!

Everything was quite straightforward and the signs well posted, until, you get right to the roundabout where "pick up drop off" sign suddenly at the last 2/3 metres becomes "drop off" only! I am at a snails pace so just dive into drop off only!

But I am actually still looking for "pick up" and thinking I have gone wrong.

Which is fine but my son has gone to short stay so I am telling him & his mates to get over fast! Anyhow it cost me £1 but I can see how it could go all wrong. Its very officious with cameras everywhere.

So for anyone ever going to Luton airport Pick up and drop off is the same? Pick up means drop off and drop off is drop off! :wall:
