Where to buy feed in Surrey

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone,

It's been an expensive year thus far, what with car insurance in January, breakdown, recovery and repairs in February - I also have vehicle road tax at the end of March :boohoo:

And so, having collected a couple of hens last w/e, I am now faced with buying their regular food supplies, etc. I just telephoned the local pet shop and they're quoting me £12.99 for 20kg of layers pellets and the same price for the same size mixed corn. Sounds expensive to me - sure it wasn't as much in Somerset  ...

Can anyone please point me in the direction of a reasonably priced supplier? I am looking for a regular order of layers pellets, mixed corn and grit.

Many thanks

Try Attlee's in Dorking if you live/go that way. Very helpful and make their feed for chickens and horses on site. I think the last time I bought layers, they were £7.99 for 20kg. It is an animal feed shop with horses, cats, dogs and all small animals/birds catered for. They are open everyday except Sunday.

Many thanks everybody!

I remembered the name of a garden centre I pass on the way home from work and, thanks to the power of the internet, find they supply at under £9.00 a bag for both layers pellets and mixed corn.

I can't believe how expensive it is to keep a few gardens hens "in town"

Enjoy your w/e folks!

just read that you have scats in surrey...well it is southern counties so I should have thought. They will order in for you..anything you like. However I buy the smallholder range which they sell off the shelf...and if you ask nicely they will order a few (thus costing you less) and store them on their shelves out the back for you to collect as and when you need...they have 6 bags for me...but admited to having sold 4 last week and re - ordered. They mentioned they had large sacks to everyone who bought..I now don't have to order and will not have an order charge :)
