Millie-Annie
I made the decision today to have Tallulah despatched. She has been going downhill for a week or two. But so long as she appeared to be enjoying the sun and the odd treat I left her alone. But today she didn't get up. She has had green poo for a while, and she just appeared to be continually straining today with horrible stuff coming out. I made her comfortable with vet bed and water as I had to go to work, then tonight I took her to my neighbour who is experienced in the awful deed. I had Lyla put to sleep at the vets, but Tallulah being a White Star was horrendous to catch, which is part of the reason why I chose not to take her to the vets. Medicating her would have been a hellish job for both of us. She was five and I rehomed her from next door last year as he keeps chickens for eggs and once she stopped laying, she was surplus to requirements. So she has had a year longer than she should have had. She has had a lovely year. Not laying, just being spoilt and enjoying herself and basically being a noisy, skitty, White Star. She was top chicken though, and not sure what will happen now. Marigold chicken is high ranking, purely by being Tallulah's best friend, but not sure on her own that will stand for much, and to be honest don't think Marigold will care, Marigold's life revolves round talking to me and catching frogs. So one of the rowdy ex-batts will take the crown. Could be an interesting week.
memphisto
Sorry to hear about Tallulah, I lost my white star last year, they are lovely birds but very skittish! At least she had a year of spoiling and making new friends. Sleep tight Tallulah

Millie-Annie
Thank you. I actually think Marigold misses her, which I didn't expect. Not helped by the fact that Josie chicken abandoned the ex-batt bedroom a while ago to sleep with Marigold has moved herself back tonight. So I picked her out and put her back in with Marigold. Not having my beautiful girl sleeping alone on a cold night Fickle chickens
