kinsk
We have lost 5 eggs in the last 3 days. We are assuming it's our new cockerel, we've never had this problem before and as he's only been here since Easter he's getting the blame! I spent last night syringing out eggs and refilling them with mustard and today someone has taken the bait! Will put some more in tomorrow and Monday in the hope of stopping this behaviour as soon as possible. BUT if this doesn't work what else can I try? Ain't Nobody Here
You can try pot eggs (fake ceramic eggs that hurt their beaks if they try and peck them) or a rollaway nestbox if you really struggle to break the habit. Removing the eggs as quickly as you can isn't easy but is the best option.
Alis girls
Well the culprit in my case took the bait and hasnt laid since so shes probably got the hump with me. So far shes only gone for her own eggs and not Maggies which are hard shells and take some breaking. Jez is an old girl so her laying is spasmodic. Lavenders_Blue
In my experience yes they do work, but I think you can only try it and see. Good luck!
