squiffs
Thank you everyone, I have kept the tag the vets had on her catbox with her name on it and put it on my pinboard. I also have one of her feathers from when I clipped her wings. She was a wonderful girl. I couldn't help giggling at her inquisitiveness at the vet's when her release forms for the day-patient stay were being printed off - she couldn't figure out what to make of the printer. It was a hard decision to make, but we have so many memories of her, the kitchen won't be the same anymore without the sound of her pecking her reflection on the stainless steel bin. Her 8 months of freedom are more than enough consolation for me. <

clucker1
Dear Squiffs Thank you so very much for sharing your lovely story of Xena with us all, I have enjoyed reading all the posts about this amazing chicken, it was like something from a modern day Beatrix Potter tale. I have a tear in my eye now, she was such a lovely girl and you were fabulous to take her in and look after her so well as you did. dancing cloud
Lots of here too, but in the knowledge that Xena had eight months of freedom, a dignified end, and got to experience all the love and care that any little hen could wish for. We will all miss our favourite Chicken of Fate. Sending you and yours lots of ((hugs))
