Should we have a corrugated roof or a wire roof ?

Recommended Posts

We are really thinking hard about how to make a run for my girls.

At the moment they have a cube with 3 m of omlet run attached. This has clear plastic over the top and one side and they do stay pretty dry. Their house is on soil and they hardly suffer from any mud.

The thing is, their outside play area just has a little fence to stop them escaping and the end of their play area is a wall of the shed. This is where cats like to hang about and eye up my girls, on the shed roof.

They have gravel to dig in ( which I really want to replace with paving stones ) and they have quite a large mud pit to dig in too and because it is overhung by next doors massive oak tree it is quite sheltered from the rain.

So the weather for me isn't really a problem but deciding which sort of roof to have is.

So, decisions, decisions, not my best subject at all, a corrugated roof or a wire one ?

Which would be best for the girls ?

Which is most foxproof ?

Is this for a permanent WIR? I couldnt make out if thats what you meant, but will assume it is

It does depend on your situation too, do you have foxes in your area? If yes, then definately go for a strong wire roof, as getting in through a weak roof would not be a problem for them and then maybe ( as we did ) cover that with clear corrugated roofing to keep it dry.

If foxes are not a problem then just a corrugated roof will do :D
