Poor Stanley the bluebell had a bit of a rough night last night!

They were all out freeranging yesterday evening, we were sat in the lounge. Heard a clattering and one of the boys looked out of the window and noted that it was just the empty green recycling box which had blown over. We went back to watching TV.

When I shut the chickens in later it was just going dark and they had already put themselves to bed and all was quiet.

 

I've just been out to give them some s"Ooops, word censored!"s - Stanley was missing and I could hear clucking coming from the nest box. So I dished out the treats and closed the WIR behind me. For some reason I decided to check in the nest box - what a shock, no Stanley! Then I realised that the clucking was coming from a point next to the cube rather than in it! The blue recycling box was still where we had left it, next to the cube and the green one was upside down next to that and clucking vigorously! Lifted up the recycling box and there was Stanley! Poor girl had obviously been the one who knocked the box over and it had landed on her. Because it was already late afternoon, she had kept quiet and gone into roost mode! She was quite relieved to join the others for corn and appears none the worse for her misadventure

Oh dear . At least she was safe for the night .
