Griffin
Just how many times between now and the weekend will I look at the incy to see if anything has pipped? 3587621405785 times probably, and that's only today Tiger has 6 chamois Thuringian eggs and this morning I cleaned her coop while she was out on a comfort break so that's all ready for her new babies. I've noticed with her most hatch on day 20 so that's Thursday. There are 2 Thuringian eggs in the incy and 8 quail/blue quail D'anvers. I didn't hear anyone talking while I removed the dividers, put the mat down and turned off auto turning. That'll not stop me from talking to them everytime I check them Edited June 16, 2012 by Guest

Griffin
We have two pipped eggs in the incy Amount of housework being done today = Zero.
cluckingmad
Thats what I like to hear, housework being sacked off for egg watching! Still wrestling with the desire to hatch eggs, the boy issue bothers me!
Griffin
I think they've almost all pipped in the incy now, some have pipped underneath so it's hard to see well but every single egg is moving. Fingers crossed they all make it out. I wasn't expecting them so early. I am worried about Tigers eggs outside because it's been so wet this week and I've lost eggs under a Brahma in bad weather before. It's one thing worrying about humidity in an incy but when the heavens open for days on end outside it doesn't help the ones under a broody. I gave her the most precious ones too! Purplemaniacs
How exciting. I was surprised at how exciting it was, here we were all watching including two grandchildren and DDs boyfriend. Anymore news? Chrissie
Griffin
One blue quail D'anvers hatched at about 4.45pm to the sounds of Henry Lee by Nick Cave and P J Harvey. One of my favourite songs! There was lots of movement and I knew as soon as I left for work at 6pm they'd all start popping out. I was right! Daisy has been keeping me informed all evening and apparently we now have four chicks. Gutted to have missed so much action, I only work Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday evenings and they're only on day 19. I know Tiger will not come out when I get home at 10pm so I'm not going to know how her eggs are doing until the morning.
Griffin
I have billions of chicks 9/10 have hatched in the incy, number 10 has pipped and is on his way. When I last checked on Tiger at 10am she had four chicks so far. I'd forgotten than not all of the Thuringians were chamois, some are gold so that was a nice surprise
Purplemaniacs
9/10 so far that is brilliant and 4 under Tiger. Lots of lovely chicks. Can you post some photos, please Chrissie
Griffin
My beloved Rcom hatched all 10 It's an amazing machine. And I can't believe it's day 20 and it's all over I know bantams can hatch early but I really wasn't expecting it. Tiger only has one egg left to hatch, I couldn't hear anything from it this afternoon so I'm not hopeful but we'll see. She's got some of the incy chicks now too. I hadn't planned on the hatch being so successful. Whilst not strictly Ebay eggs, I did find the breeder on there and we did a deal for 18 eggs privately. I can't recommend her highly enough, her eggs, my incy and the best broody in the world have been amazing. Thankfully Bridget Brahma has been considering going broody for a while now, her screams that could be heard from the house this afternoon confirm she's definitely broody now I've moved her tonight to my biggest broody coop and I hope to fool her into accepting the rest of the chicks tomorrow. My camera will also be back from Paris with daughter number two tomorrow night so on Saturday I can bore you all with billions of photos. I have a favourite already, the last incy chick to hatch this afternoon was a blue quail D'anvers chick and it's much smaller than the others. It really is tiny so I'm going to swap it for one of the chicks Tiger has and let her rear it rather than Bridget. It needs a careful Mother, not a great big clumsy oaf-like Brahma. Griffin
https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150853374897003&set=a.467206912002.262004.645337002&type=1&theater Not sure if this link will work or not, it's a photo I took on my rubbish Blackberry & sent to Facebook. I can't wait to get my camera back. Things didn't go well with stroppy Bridget this morning so I decided to swap coops so Tiger had the biggest coop & run. Tiger now has all 15 chicks and Bridget is sat on the egg that hasn't hatched yet of Tigers. I'm lucky they are all such tiny bantam chicks and Tiger has managed to cover all of them. Bless her, she can't count and just ushered them all underneath her The two incy Thuringians seemed a bit confused but they soon got the hang of things. Some of them have been up and about eating and drinking and they've got a massive coop to play in until Tiger is ready to take them outside. Griffin
We lost a blue D'anvers this morning. Tiger accidentally broke it's neck. She's never hurt a chick before and I know she wouldn't have done it on purpose. We buried it next to the run It's been very windy here all day but Tiger did lead her herd of chicks outside for the first time. She didn't keep them out for long, realising they were better off back inside. I took a few photos but then the battery died. More next week. My favourite, the runty little D'anvers: A Chamois Thuringian: Some of the gang: These three Thuringians were not so keen to go out into the cold: These were braver: A shouty Thuringian. Not sure what colour it is. Doesn't look gold spangled or chamois! A mystery... As I was expecting, a gold spangled Thuringian: Another mystery colour: Who also got a bit shouty:
