Chicks have hatched!!

Recommended Posts

They have arrived! I am soooooo excited. First one pipped this morning around 8 am. Four more quickly followed and the last one was beginning to emerge at around 4.30 but I havn't disturbed her since. I'm not sure of all the sexes at the moment but one is a girl they others were still drying out when I last looked. I'm a bit worried about disturbing Pepperpot too much. Does anyone think I should take her off the nest tonight for something to eat and drink? I've heard that it's ok to do this but i'm not sure at which stage, and that you can put a flannel over the chicks to keep them quiet so that mum can feed in peace. I'm too excited to think straight at the moment. Any tips anyone especially LINDY LOO as I know she has hatched under a broody. Many thanks everyone. When I can take some pictures and work out how to get them on the Forum I will. Progress reports will follow. :D:D:D:D

They are Cream Legbars, so they are an auto-sexing breed.

I go down every two or three hours to have a peek but usually Pepperpot is firmly glued to them and they are all snuggled up under her wings but occassionaly you might be lucky enough to spot a head or bottom!

Peppepot is proving to be an excellent mother, she is taking her roll very seriously. :D:D
