Mrs Frugal
I found this on another forum and it's great. http://www.geograph.org.uk/ are trying to get a photograph for every grid square on the map. There are a few for my town. Burghley House - this is where we go for walks and picnics regularly. The Clock House - I pass this house every day. It's not that far from mine. Lesley will recognise it as it's one of the landmarks I told her to look out for on the way to mine!! Red Lion Square - our Farmers Market is in this little square once a fortnight. Filming the movie "Pride and Prejudice" last year - I went to see the film when it was shown in the building on the right with all the pillars in this photo! The pillars were props! The real building has a plain front!! Great Casterton - just up the road from me. Great Casterton - this is the site of the old Great North Road when Stamford was a coaching town. Rutland Water - a beautiful manmade lake with a small colony of Ospreys. Armley Wood, Rutland Water - we love walking here. Rutland Water Are there any for yours? It would be fun to see what it's like where everyone lives - obviously not someone's house but the surrounding area. The Dogmother
There's a site that someone once emailed me about, where a teddy or similar goes travelling with people and pix of it by various landmarks are posted to this site. maybe we should have an Omlet chicken toy and take pix of it in our home towns, or on our travels. Whaddya think? Good or not?
Mrs Frugal
I like that Clare . When I left a school I worked at, they gave me a little teddy bear and we took him on holiday to Florida with us and sent back photos of him at all the big attractions! The Dogmother
I had a small ted called George, who travelled everywhere with me, peeking out of a pocket on my backpack. Rosie now has him and always takes him away on hols. He is a very well travelled bear.
Lesley
Yes Kate, I did recognise the Clock House and the Square where the Farmers Market is held (and Rutland Water of course) This is the first photo I found when zooming in - not very interesting but it is where Carl had to drive with water over the bonnet of the car in the Easter floods 7 years ago! Then I found these:- My Grandmother's School 1910-1920 One of my favourite places! my Grandfather's cottage Our Family Church Edited November 2, 2005 by Guest
Popcorn
You sure Carl wasn't floating Lesley! The teddy idea reminds me of a story I once saw on the TV about a garden gnome that was stolen from someone's garden. The gnome then sent photographs of himself in various places all over the world to the original owner. Very funny. I think it was on That's Life with Esther Ransom, and then they story was covered in Corrie some years later with Derek and Mavis.

I was only talking to Mum about that the other day and we were laughing over the story!!

freerange
Thornton is nice FR - my sister started there when she moved 'up North'. But now she's right in the centre of Blackpool and I hate Blackpool we're a bit further south than that in Poulton-le-Fylde, although my Grandma lives in Thornton. KWYM about Blackpool though. I'd rather go all the way to Manchester than have to go into Blackpool.
