Bramble
I sold an item last week, Ebay says payment is still awaited, but if I click on the item itself, it says "Payment was initiated on 27-Jul-12 and is being processed through PayPal". The buyer says he's sent payment and it's left his paypal account, but it hasn't arrived in mine. Has anyone else had this problem?
merlina
This can happen if they (the buyer) haven't verified their bank account or are using something like a debit card. Paypal won't release the money to you until it physically arrives in their account (they seem to take an awfully long time about it in these days of instant payments!) Bramble
Thanks for your reply, Merlina, that's interesting. I will just sit tight and see what happens for a bit longer - the buyer seems genuine enough so hopefully this will sort itself out in a couple of days. Chucky Mama
What does it say in your Paypal account?
Cinnamon
Your account should give you an estimated date for clearance, then you can post it out. If the buyer gets snotty, just get them to call Paypal & see whats going on - as has been said,it is more than likely an account verification issue,an echeque or an expired card. It is a pain though
Bramble
That's the puzzling thing, my PayPal account doesn't say anything at all, it doesn't mention this payment, all I know is what it says on Ebay, all very odd, but thanks for your replies! WitchHazel
I would check that you don't have a typo in the Paypal address that is registered with Ebay. It's unlikely to be incorrect, but it is worth checking just in case H
soapdragon
Sounds like they are using a debit card or transfering money into their Paypal account - this can take a few days! Hove you asked the buyer if this is the case?
Bramble
I emailed Ebay about the problem (didn't have hours to spend on hold on the 'phone!) They've responded with various options as to why there might be a delay, but nothing that helps much, they suggest I contact Paypal, so have just emailed them. Thanks for all the replies, I will let you know the outcome, in case it helps anyone else in future!!!
The Dogmother
Hope you get it sorted Bramble. I am currently trying to sort out an ebay issue; a man bought something from me in May, he only lives roughly 40 minutes away and often comes this way so said he'd be in touch about collecting it. Predictably, I didn't hear from him so I sent him an ebay message (he was still trading so I knew he was around) followed by an email when he didn't respond. A few messages later and I contacted ebay for his phone number... which proved to be false. I have sent him a final message and identical email asking him to confirm with me by 15th August whether he has any intention to collect it; I have told him that if he no longer wants the item to let me know and I will refund him the cost and re-list it. I assume that this is correct ebay protocol, but as a newbie I'd welcome any suggestions.
Cinnamon
Clare, has he paid for it? You say that you will refund him...... Giving a false phone number is something that eBay take a very dim view on & he could get his account suspended for it,should he be reported. The Dogmother
Yes, he has paid Sarah, only £8 but I'd really like to get it out of the way and the sale closed. He obviously doesn't want it any more I have even offered to post it to him or drop it off when we're over that way. Ebay are aware that his phone number is incorrect and have messaged him twice asking him to add a correct number to his records. I have checked and the incorrect number is still there and he's still trading. I've done a bit of hunting and he has a non-specific consultancy business registered to that address but no phone number available online. Cinnamon
Ok, then I would contact eBay & ask them what you should do. Was there a pick-up time limit specified on the listing at all? If it has been more than 6 weeks I would personally relist it & wait for him to chase you for a refund - you are not an unpaid storage service! The Dogmother
No pick up time listed, but that's a good idea for next time as I have another lagger who bought something else a few weeks ago and is dithering about collecting it. I am going to see what happens (if anything) by the 15th and contact ebay to ask what they'd suggest I do. It's not a large item by any means but I am having a gradual clear out and could do without it hanging around. I am in two minds about just mailing it off with a signed for delivery, it's not heavy so wouldn't cost a lot. Thanks sarah
Cinnamon
If you do post it,get a reciept for the payment of the postage then send him an invoice by Paypal for that amount - it will cost you at least £3 to send it signed for
