Chucky Mama
Signed ES up for a years use of a 'Boris Bike' which seems to be the cheapest most efficient way of travelling where he is. It cost £45 for the year and he said that it will pay for itself in 9 weeks (tube and bus fares). Sent a box of goodies down including his helmet, dried fruit, a 6 pack of iced buns, stick blender, rucksack, ultra thin waterproof jacket and a cutlery drainer. He only asked for the helmet but I just received an email saying that he now feels a little sick after eating all of the iced buns and that the cutlery drainer was a 'major win'
Purplemaniacs
OH uses Boris's Bikes when he is in London and thinks they are brilliant Parcels from home are always special Chrissie
Ain't Nobody Here
I reckon they don't actually know what they need or will find useful - thank goodness they have mums with years of wisdom . That scheme sounds like a good idea . YS has lost his mobile phone . He's only had it since August . Thankfully, VirginMobile were very helpful and have blocked it and sent out a new sim card for £5. It wasn't a particularly expensive phone but still . We've emailed the nightclub ( ) so maybe someone's handed it in. A colleague at work's son lost his phone abroad and got a bill for £800 . Cinnamon
You will be amazed & appalled at what they get up to/lose/break in their first year, even if you do think they are pretty savvy & ready to strike out alone. My daughter melted her plastic colander by putting it onto the hot stove top & also cracked a plastic measuring jug That said, she was one of a pair out of 6 of them in the halls who actually cooked for herself (an awful lot of Scampi was consumed!) chickencam
We dropped off ED today at 10.30am and stayed for about 1 1/2 hrs helping her set up various things, then left her to it. OH cried because it brought back memories of being left by his family 200 miles away with very little communication unlike today with mobiles, skype etc. I was ok until my SIL sent me a text at 9pm to say that she had been thinking of us all day and for some reason that tipped me over. Ain't Nobody Here
Aww . I'm so grateful for mobiles/email etc, it makes it so easy to contact them (without seeming to interfere ).
chickencam
Just had a lovely 25 minute Skype chat with ED She looks tired but seems happy with the people on her floor and she also says that the food is good and although she doesn't get lunch provided she can liberate enough fruit, and yoghurt to see her through, she even managed to get a pain au chocolat today, she is just waiting for someone to complain about the amount that she is eating She did say that the canteen staff seem to prefer people like her who are taking lots and eating it rather than those who are picky and those who load their plates then throw most of it away. Chucky Mama
ES is popping home for the weekend. Better stock up the fridge and get baking Work seems to have started for which I think he is grateful. More sleep and less partying is quite welcome. chickencam
ED has only been there for 3 days and she has already had a night off. She really isn't a party animal and needs her sleep, she loves socialising but doesn't like clubs particularly, so she opted out of last night's event in favour of tonight. She also had to be in the centre of Bristol by 9am this morning. She managed to spend the whole evening on Skype to friends and family. She seems very happy though. Ain't Nobody Here
That's good news . My YS has eventually made the decision to move into the other halls (but only because he'd heard people were viewing it yesterday ). Looks like he's just in time - mainly because I phoned at 9.30 this morning to put his name down. He didn't get up till midday .
