Newbies on Saturday

Recommended Posts

So I'm off to Salisbury auctions on Saturday morning, in theory only to collect some more 3kg feeders but I've got room for a couple of LF so you never know (I've pored over the catalogue with a highlighter just in case). Would like another brown and a white egger.

Then on the way back from there I'm stopping off to pick up my newbies which are a couple of wee Pekin and Silkie girlies, who are going to be Dolly and Worzel, for the Bantie Kingdom. Very excited. Just thought you'd like to share.

(Will try to put pictures on but I'm rather hopeless at it and tend to give up.)

How exciting, where are you getting your new girls from, I just love silkies too. Have never been brave enough to go to Salisbury auctions although its not far from me, I don't think I would be able to let my head rule my heart! Having said that I am hoping to persuade hubby to go to a duck show on the Isle of Wight on Saturday as I am after a couple of white call ducks.

Have a lovely day on Saturday.

I did say it was only a small bag

Your both very welcome to come and have a nose (and tea and cake of course).

The newbies were off a preloved ad. The lady is called Kimmy and she's been good enough to keep them a couple of weeks to be sure they don't doodledoo. The plan is for them to keep Brillo company as the other banties all fly and perch up in the run and she's left on the floor alone. She'll probably hate them but I'll have tried.

You really should go to the auction, it's worth it just to see all the different types there's everything from quails to peacocks, Rhea and black Swans! They also have deadstock too, no not dead birds (that's what I thought the first time  ) . Prices go from £1 to the highest price I've seen of £630 for a pair of Sablepoots in a fancy colour. There's a good supplys stall too. It's normally all over by 1pm. Good breakfast on offer in the cafe.

I have 2 dachshunds also.

Oh got me interested now, my daughter said she would go with me as well so we are going to arrange a trip, didn't realise they did supplies too. Looked on the website and hubby wants to go to one of the antique auctions. Daughter and I were laughing as I once took the kids to the cattle auction when they were really little to see all the lovely animals - that were probably going to slaughter! It seemed like a good idea at the time, she said most mums take their kids to a petting farm :D

My dachshund is a standard wire haired, she is so cute and great as she never barks unlike my cocker spaniel! What sort do you have, ours came from a lady called Jenny who lives Salisbury way.

Alas I've just had a call to say that they're boys :( so I won't be picking them up in the morning. Still at least I know in time to check out the banties at the auction. They'll still be Dolly and Worzel what ever I come home with. Let you know how I get on.

My dachshunds are mini smooth Zelda is shaded red with a grey face now and not many teeth, Woody is a black and tan rescue. Then there's Millie Whippet who thinks she's a sausage.

Well I'm back. Did I come home with a brown or white egg layer? Nope. Did I come home with something from the bantie section that didn't fly too good? Nope. Did I come home empty handed? Nope.

I'm now the very smiley mummy of a couple of LF blue and gold Orpingtons and a teeny Barbu d'Anvers. I can blame Cheeky Chooky for the Barbu as I took a fancy them after her avatar. Heehee.
