coco Posted August 19, 2012 Share Posted August 19, 2012 I have just been to a garden centre that is selling chickens. I only had a look at them to be nosey. The conditions they were kept in were far from ideal. They were all young hybrids, there were about 25 birds in a fairly small run. My run at home is bigger and has less hens in it. The hens were on bare paving slabs, there was a dust bath but it looked filthy. Two of the birds were unwell ie eyes closed and looking hunched. I mentioned that they had no food and there were sick birds to a member of staff who said he had fed them that morning then went to look at them. I have bought chickens from various places over the three years that I have kept them and none has given me the cause for concern that this place did. do I report this to the RSPCA or not?
