Groovychook
My chooks are due for their latest flubenvet course and my tub is almost out of date. I'm considering buying a sack of the marriages layers pellets with flubenvet just for ease of use, but am worried that they'll turn their beaks up at it as they normally have smallholders layers pellets. Anyone else had a problem with changing the brand of pellets whilst worming? I don't want to buy a sack and then find that they won't be properly dosed if they're not eating them!! I always withdraw treats and cut down on free ranging whilst worming so they wouldn't have any other options available...
wannabe smallholder
I had my girls three weeks and had used layers pellets from suppliers so never experienced anything else. When I put the marriage's in Florence walked up to the grub, seemed to sniff and lifted head, tried other side of feeder, again sniffed and walked away!! Luckily Lily, obviously less discerning walked straight up and began scoffing! Eventually they all got stuck in with no probs. Others on here may have had less favourable results. good_egg
I used them with my first girls, no problems, not sure they noticed. Pellets are definitely easier than the mixing business! If they aren't getting any other food then I am sure that even if they dont meet standards they will get over it and eat the pellets (although you may receive some evil looks!). That said my babies turned their nose up at normal pellets when I first tried them after mash and I relented and mixed the two, was more to save the littlest from taking the blame as they seemed to think it was her fault! In summary I'm sure pellets to Flubenvet pellets will be fine.
clucker1
Last time, mine preferred them to their normal pellets....as they were scoffed down....7 chickens ate 10kg of pellets in 8 days. In any case if that is all there is to eat, I am sure they will eat them to survive!

The Dogmother
Give it a go, they won't starve themselves; just leave them to get on with it and restrict free-ranging time.
