The problem with chickens.

Recommended Posts

I've already planned what to do if I have to replace one of my chickens, though I am worried about the pair I have as I would be introducing 1 to 1 or 2 to 1!

I'd love to get myself a millefleur pekin...

What chickens are you looking at getting? :)

I got two Warrens who are lovely and really friendly.

One follows me around the garden, jumps up on the bench and if i'm not careful will drink my tea.

The wife thinks she's a little bit in love with me

So now I have two Warrens, two black Silkies and two goldtops to replace the white silkie that died and the Buff Orpington who i loved but the neighbours threatened to set the dogs on because she was so noisy

We are in the middle of putting up new fencing and opening up the bottom of the garden..more space.. We are extremly happy with our 3 remaining girls and we did not replace poor Eva ,but they are laying less and we do have a spare coup gathering dust (what a waste) ..So my plan is (have not told the OH  ) to get a couple of new girls in the new year ...How many more excuses do I need ?

Sounds like a great plan jackian :-) not that im encouraging you at all. im secretly hatching a plan to introduce some bantums to my list of pets, think my DH will not be amused in the slightest but im getting a bit addicted (seems to have got worse since I joined Omlet) Id love to hatch some but wouldnt know what to do with the boys and knowing my lucj id get a box of boy eggs, think I will have to get some chicks :P

I was at a friends house the other day Groovydad and she has your Orp. She's lovely and is looking very well, the chicken not the friend.

Hi Coco. I'm so pleased Buffy is doing so well. I really loved that chicken so much but after I gave Karen my old Warrens she decided she was going to be top chicken and became the noisiest chicken ever put on this earth. To put it in context, i accidentally had a cockeral for a short time and that didn't bother the neighbours but the Orpington's constant chattering to the others drove them nuts. So glad she's getting on well, seems like my ancient Warren's have had a second lease of life too. Must be the country air. I'm well jealous of that setup although i hear it's hard work.

haha...6 for 1. I didn't really explain myself very well. The Warrens replaced the dead Silkie, the others I already had.
