Mrs Webmuppet
Little Miss Webmuppet has started knitting. She has a copy of the Lucinda Guy kids knitting book which has the basics in it ( casting on etc). She is currently working on a scarf. As part of her Christmas pressie I have ordered her some nice bamboo knitting needles off eBay( 18 pairs in all the different sizes)and a hard plastic case to put them in ( she is currently using a pair of cheap metal needles which are pretty nasty) and I was thinking of getting her a knitting book to go with the needles but I don't know what to get her as most of the kids books go up to age 12. Any suggestions? I have loads of knitting patterns but they are written in 'knit language' and aren't 'Easy Knit' so aren't really suitable for her. UKMARCH
Not sure what type of things to make you're interested in but my girls have the: Knit One, Purl One: The Complete Knitting Kit which is a book and kit with everything to make a knitted rabbit and instructions to make 4 other animals and accessories. I can't knit myself so we haven't really used them yet but my youngest is doing a WW2 project at school where they are making knitted animals so we have started to learn to cast on and plain stitch so hopefully will soon be able to give the animals a go! chickencam
I have just bought a book of animal hats for my YD's 14th birthdaynext week. I bought it in The Works, I will let you know the title when she unwraps it on Tuesday, it was £3.99 and has loads of lovely animal hats that are knitted, crocheted or made from felt. Mrs Webmuppet
That sounds the sort of thing I was thinking of. I've had a look on Amazon and the only ones i can see that might be suitable are Knitty Gritty or Chicks with Sticks as it has to be fun to keep her attention. I might see if the local library has either of them then I can have a look through the book before purchase.
