Done the egg dance! A bit muddy now ...

Recommended Posts

Having always had ex-batts before, I'd not experienced the wait for baby girls to grow up and produce eggs, but now the wait is over, as Myrtle has laid her first eggy :D . Despite getting covered in mud, the egg dance has been danced :dance::dance:!

At 49g, it won't exactly feed a family for a week, but it's small and perfectly formed and a good mid-brown colour.

Marguerite's eggs may be dark brown, when she gets around to laying some, but she isn't even crouching yet. I've tried showing her Myrtle's egg and a box of Paxo to outline her options  , but she just gives me the look ...

Muddy was more icy today and there was another lovely egg from Myrtle  52g this time!

what pretty names your chooks have!
Aaww, thank you! They were going to be Twilight for the Bluebell and either Moonlight or Starlight for the Speckledy, but the Bluebell just didn't look like a Twilight and did look like a Myrtle, so there it was  . I then had to think of another flowery name beginning with M to continue the theme, and neither Marigold nor Melissa suited, and Mugwort was just not pretty enough, so Marguerite she became.

Myrtle knows her name and answers to it, Marguerite doesn't seem to, but then she does appear to be younger so she might catch up eventually. I'll let you know when I next have a reason to do the egg dance :D
