Frugal living 2013

Recommended Posts

Skip surfing can be a great way to get wood.

It's become far easier for us this year with the van :D

A neighbour of OH's mother was having a tree cut down, it's now in pieces in her garage seasoning for us

Neighbour was chuffed to bits as she'd been quoted £50 to take it away :P

On reflection, I have spent WAY too much in 2013..... I'm going to do my upmost to be more frugal in 2014 (well when we get back from Vegas at the end of January anyhow  )

I have not been frugal this year, returning from holiday today I had to go shopping for some food for dinner. When I got to the supermarket I realised that I had forgotten my debit and credit card to pay with. I either had to make the round trip to get my cards, or pay cash. I counted up the contents of my purse and decided I could do a quick shop. I spent a fraction of what I would usually have spent.

Maybe this was the wake up call I needed for the year ahead? I do make a list but usually buy lots more, on this occasion I shopped with careful consideration and bought less than was on the list!

My workplace has changed recently and the closest supermarket is now Lidl. If I make that my regular shopping place I'm sure that would save me a few bob too!
