Domestic Fowl Trust

Recommended Posts

I know a lot of us have been disappointed by visits to the DFT in the past - but it has new owners now........ may be time to visit them again.

I know there's been a lot of flooding out that way but as soon as the rivers have gone down I shall be going to have a look.

I think it will be a lot better :D

Do you know who's bought it then?

I reported on this back in April - they were not so much chicken people than other animals http://www.allthingswild.co.uk/ and here:http://domesticfowltrust.co.uk/products/visitor-information.html

It is really becoming a farm park with a number of chickens. The shop is still well supplied with chicken stuff - for sale hens are in bigger pens, but not well named or priced, and only hydrids for sale when I was last there.

I remember now Tracy, thanks for the nudge.

Have the conditions for the chickens improved at all?

I have a colleague who lives next door, so I have popped in for supplies, but not gone around the farm park - the sell pens are outside and a bit bigger than before and they looked healthy - I feel it will become less chickens and more a day visit farm park - some of the museum is already a kids soft play area!

Sorry Tracy - I didn't know you'd posted as I don't visit the Chickens section as often as I ought - I'd posted this in NB.

I did wonder if that was the way things might move.

I might pop in on my way back from a potato day in Cheltenham on the 19th of this month

Down for Dundry's potatoe event? We avoid the hectic potatoe weekend and go a week earlier before the crowds when everything is in stock.

yep I don't find it to crowded compared with Ryton and Shrewsbury but then I do tend to get there just as the event opens but I must admit I like to spend some time there talking spuds with a few of the regulars

as for all in stock the last couple of years part of the stock has been late normally the ones I want

I went over to the Domestic Fowl Trust the other day and had a chat with their chicken guy. He was explaining the place is split into 2 branches. The Domestic Fowl Trust is still the poultry side of things and they have all the equipment (he took me to see their birds for sale... had a few nice ones) and they have 'All Things Wild' which is a separate Nature Centre on site. Makes sense now!

Might take the kids down to the Nature Centre... looks interesting :D

Hope this helps anyone else that is confused by what's going on over there...
