CatieB
I have a new under the counter fridge since Friday. On set up it suggested setting the k"Ooops, word censored!" between 2 and 3 to get a correct temperature. It wasn't cold enough. Even putting the k"Ooops, word censored!" at 4.5 the temp in the middle of the fridge is 4 and doesn't get cooler. So the top shelf is warmer. Now I haven't set it to the max setting yet, but surely a new item shouldn't need to be on max at this stage. Am I being too fussy, should I contact the supplier yet or wait and see if it gets better. Thanks in advance.
The Dogmother
And you've had it running since Friday? If so, then it should have reached optimum temperature by now. I would look online first to see if there are any help topics or online forum discussions for that make and model, then call the manufacturer for their advice; if this is a fault then they really ought to replace it as it's not fit for purpose. I hope that it's easily rectified
clucker1
How full is your new fridge? If full, I would think it might need to be on the maximum setting.
chickencam
A domestic fridge should run at or below 5 degrees I think, so you are about there. Having said that I know when we bought our larder fridge well over 10 years ago it had a faulty thermostat and kept freezing things, we contacted Lec and they said that there was a recall about to go out on it and replaced the thermostat and the door hinges that were liable to break at the same time. I would be interested to know if they would have contacted me through the registered guarantee but I will never know
Raina
Fridges should be between 6oc and 3oc a lot of people use them to hibernate tortoises in as they reach the perfect temperature for hibernation.
CatieB
It isn't full or empty, just medium amount in it really. Yes it has been running since 4 hours after delivery as it recommends. I have taken the temp properly, calibrated thermometer in a glass of water left in the fridge overnight. So I have now turned it to max and will let you know the outcome. I have googled the product and can't find any bad reviews or faults, in fact as a score for holding temp it is rated 4.7 out of 5! I'm aiming for about three degrees in the middle really, otherwise the top is too hot particularly as there is a very shelf so I feel it's important. clucker1
Did it give any instructions to let it stand before you plugged it in? Sometimes they do, up to 24 hours, to let something in it, sorry can't remember what, before it can work properly.
CatieB
Yes it had big signs all over to allow to stand for 4 hours and I did do it... My glass of water is now down to 3 degrees but that's running at max, in winter. Will leave it on max for a while and see what happens.
