Thanks mum said to put her in a run with house but no access to nest box and put her to bed with the rest at night, I suppose thats to stop any nasty re introducing but then your suggestion seems good too, I have given in and let her back in at the moment will start a proper anit brood regime tommorrow

Well it depends on what you want!!! To let her brood ...or try and break her broodiness??

With pekins in your flock you may want to get some practice at breaking the broodiness!!!! I now have an anti-broody coop with my lot!!! It's an old style wire, plastic coated, square cat basket (got of ebay) Have a couple of clip on plastic cups for food and water, pop it in the run (in sight of the others) raised up on a couple of bricks, to help her cool down and then lock down for 3 days and nights (my Molly seems to need longer!! )

If you want to hatch you need separate accommodation for mum and any resulting chicks (coop with attached run probably best) Settle the hen in to a routine of being lifted off in the morning to eat, drink and do "the broody poo!!" Then a couple of days later, in an evening gently slip the eggs one by one under her. Hopefully 21 days later....fluffy chicks!!! :D

So which will you chose????

Just want to say how I loved your video 'You have no babies! You have no boyfriend!' You had OH and I in a chuckle lol!

There is some great advice here on broodiness, from the posts above and searching other topics.

I had one girl not long ago who was insisting on staying on the nest and went broody. I just kept taking her off the nest, and when I knew the other chook had laid, I would close the coop door for an hour (so I knew she would actually eat something) and put a brick in it for the rest of the time. The hen was quite insistent for a couple of weeks, and I think I was quite lucky as this snapped her out of it. I would have brought her inside but my broody cage was being used by a poorly chicken, so this was the option I went with!

Hope she stops being a stubborn broody! Good luck :)

Thanks

My sister saw the video and her words were ' you actually put that on everyone is going to think your insane' I told her that everyone thinks im a tortishell cat it should be ok !!

I have told Prilly thats she is incrediblly beautiful and would make beautiful babies however any boys would need to be ummmm well you know and I told her that she wouldnt want that to happen and I couldnt do that, of course she has taken no notice. I did end up shutting her out oh my I think she actually had a proper tantrum stamped feet the full works. Seriously im hoping that ive caught it in time as she isnt being to fiesty when I turf her out ???

May need to look at what I can make re broody cage ? wonder if I can hire anything if needed
