Ain't Nobody Here
Does anyone have a Lenovo laptop/PC? Are they any good? I like the look of the one mentioned in the other laptop thread but really want a 17"+ screen. I also don't want Windows 8 so after some searching, came across this one. It's not a brand I know but the reviews seem good. I don't need a high-spec gaming machine but want it to cope with multi-tasking. Have found the same one but 4GB, 750GB at Argos £30 cheaper! Charlottechicken
Can I ask why you don't want windows 8? I'm after a desktop computer, and want a nice HP all in one, but the Lenovo ones keep popping up and are cheaper, so will be interested in any replies you get! Geoid
Lenovo is a good solid make. Should last a while.
Ain't Nobody Here
Can I ask why you don't want windows 8? Just cos I've read a few reviews saying it's not very intuitive, is quite different to previous Windows versions and is more suited to a touch screen. I'm sure it's absolutely fine but I'm on XP now and am happy to stay with something similar. Thought it might be a bit cheaper to get a laptop with an older version (I can't really justify the expense of a super-duper laptop much as I'd love one!) Charlottechicken
Just cos I've read a few reviews saying it's not very intuitive, is quite different to previous Windows versions and is more suited to a touch screen Thank you, ANH I also don't want a touchscreen so that is useful information and worth looking into. Ain't Nobody Here
Lenovo is a good solid make. Should last a while. I'm glad it's a known brand (I'd never heard of it before ). Don't suppose you could have a quick look at the one in my link? I'd value your opinion .
sparkysmum
Hazel has a Lenovo laptop and although she doesn't have any sophisticated requirements she loves it and has been faultless so far.

Geoid
The one in your link is not bad, but this one is slightly better.

The DD has a Lenovo notebook...it's not for downloading films etc but for word/excel etc and internet browsing it's absolutely fine...very workmanlike ..... Ain't Nobody Here
Well, I took your advice, Fred and ordered the Asus . Ordered Sunday, arrived Tuesday . Had a few teething problems - I suspect things were a bit out of date as it's obviously been a while since it was built - but all the updates seem to have sorted it out. Very happy with it and enjoying discovering all the different things Windows 7 can do .

chickencam
I like Windows 7, but hate office 2007, both hubby and I are largely self taught on spreadsheets and word, on office 2003, which seemed so much more straight forward I really struggle with office 2007. Geoid
It will take a bit of getting used to, but it is much easier to use than earlier versions
Ain't Nobody Here
I'm still using Word/Excel 2000 - quite happy with it!
chickencam
Shouldn't have posted on this thread earlier, DS's net book has bitten the dust, it is 3 years old and he uses it for most of his school work and because of this it gets a hard life, the hinges have been broken for over year and it has been held together with duct tape, so it was only a matter of time . He is now looking at getting a laptop so I will look at the ones mentioned. He only really uses it for word documents, Skype, and net flicks. Ain't Nobody Here
I'm really glad I got this new laptop before my old one gave up! Made transferring stuff and downloading the programs I need much easier. Hope you manage to find a suitable one, there's just too much choice out there . Still very happy with my Asus . My boys both have Dell laptops for Uni (with really small screens so they're extremely light and portable). They seem very happy with them.
