I have just discovered FOODIE PENPALS, where once a month you send something home made or wonderful or local to you to a penpal & another penpal send you something back.

All gifts must be under £10 & home made is encouraged.......your penpal can be from anywhere in the world!

I heard about this a while back but thought it was a US/Canada thing only. Be very interested in how it goes.

That sounds SUCH a lovely idea! I am interested to know,however, where customs stand on food being sent as I know some countries get a bit edgy about 'importing' food - Mother got stopped at customs going into the USA as she had an apple in her handbag that she was given on the plane. Being the militant lady that she is (its in the genes !!) rather than give it up she stood in customs munching it for 5 mins!

Are you actually sending food though or foodie gifts - as in..piping bags, cookie cutters, recipe books, bakeware, pinnys etc? I would love to know how you get on, it sounds brill!

Interesting to see what people send but I'm not sure i like the idea. How do you know what a person puts in it or their hygiene standards? Sorry I should apologise for the cynic in me.
