Hen rescue on Saturday :-)

Recommended Posts

Here are some photos from the BHWT rescue on Saturday in Monmouth. We re homed 156 barn kept Hubbard hens.

Never seen a Hubbard before and their bendy toes are very strange but quite cute how they grip on to you

Very friendly too bless them so I would recommend them as a rescue hen to keep. I hope they enjoyed their first day of freedom yesterday.

Well done!! I picked up 31 hens from my local coordinator in Camelford, Cornwall a week ago. I get orders from people that are interested in homing some and then go and pick them up. This is the second time I've done it. The first time I picked up 59!! It is so lovely seeing them go off to lovely new homes isnt it!! :D

It really is very rewarding and I love being a part of it.

I have never heard of a Hubbard before but they are apparently used for both meat and eggs and they do lay huge eggs  as we had 20 in the crates they arrived in.

They were really very sweet hens so will make good pets and there were lots of families who came to collect so that was good.
