Poorly chicken

I was clearing cupboards at the weekend and I've come across 6.5 unused pieces of vanilla Some of these will be very old but rather than just throw them away does anybody have any ideas of what I could use them in? I've put the 0.5 in a pot of sugar (much to OH's surprise when he went to make a loaf....) but I can't think of anything else beyond ice cream and its too cold for that.

 

There was a page on vanilla in the paper, but it wasn't helpful as it was along the lines of 'take one lobster'

Homemade custard, egg custard (baked or tarts), baked vanilla cheesecake, bread & butter pudding,cookies.

I would be inclined to put all the pieces in the sugar. That's what I do with mine. You can still take them out if needed and use to infuse milk to make custard, plus you have beautifully scented sugar

I love vanilla sugar too.

Cake? Use it to enhance the taste of a plain sponge.

Put some in plain yoghurt to make vanilla yoghurt? (Will probably need sweetening too - use some of the vanilla sugar?!)

I can recommend vanilla in rice pud, especially rice pud cooked on the stove rather than in the oven.

Put it in a compote? Or cakes?
