48 hours ago it was snowing. This evening, while cooking supper I noticed a colony of ants walking across the back of the Aga. What on earth is going on?! I've broken out a couple of bait boxes as we always have an ant problem in the summer - but this is only the second day for months that the temperature has been above zero all day. Confused - you betcha!

Yup. A couple of sunny days and we've seen a couple of ants in the house too. One ant kept my son amused for at least half an hour, unfortunately the ant was involved in an accident and is no longer with us ( boy oh boy was my son upset ).

Can't you sweep the ants up and give them to your chickens

But be careful, mine had a flying fit when I threw something from the dustpan.

My chickens don't eat ants, I wish they did as I'm sure that 80% of my garden is ant nests in the summer!

I looked after my neighbour's cat over Easter while she was away. On Easter Sunday morning when I went in there were ants crawling all over the uneaten food from the night before...yuck!

We had an ant problem....last month...hundreds of the little souls traipsing across the kitchen to the cat food (the cat was not impressed...no really he refused to eat until we moved his food to the worksurface!). I really don't like genocide so tried all sorts before my OH took control and resorted to Bait boxes...

 

We thought our underfloor heating which has been on 24/7 in the exceptionally cold weather had confused them and brought them up indoors rather than out..

 

What a weird year so far!

What sort of cat food is it please? I would never have thought of cat food attracting ants.

Well my neighbour's cat was having that expensive stuff...the little pots of hi life gourmet I think it's called. My cat gets bozita which has no carbohydrate in it and no ants so far....
