Chicken deficient
Strange question I know, for a chicken forum... I'm having curtain problems. The curtain rings are metal, (possibly nickel plated?), and the curtain rods are wooden. The rings just don't slide along the wood! Opening and closing the curtains is a right pain and involves moving each ring individually. What do I do? - replace all the rings, (all 80 of them), but if so, for what? Different material? Bigger? - treat the wooden rails with something to make them slippier? I'm not sure what is causing the problem and so am not sure how to solve it and Google isn't being much help! Thank you oh wise ones!
Bramble
Try running a babywipe along the full length of the curtain rail (you might need more than one as you want the tracks to get well covered!). I was sceptical about this but it worked wonders on my mum's curtains - got to be worth a go?
Olly
or try spraying the pole with silicone furniture polish, this works on plastic track but I don't know if it will work on this.
Chicken deficient
Thanks - I knew you could help! I'll try baby wipes first as I've got some of those to hand.
Charlottechicken
I always use furniture polish on my curtain tracks and poles, I have plastic tracks, and metal and wooden poles in the house, it helps with all of them. Just a word of warning, when you have polished them, do remember this when you open/close your curtains as the force required is less
Angie
Definately furniture polish , doesn't matter which brand. Give the pole a really good polish and the rings will slide back and forth easily again. I use Mr Sheen works well on mine.
charly1979
Just a word of warning, when you have polished them, do remember this when you open/close your curtains as the force required is less this made me laugh out loud because I am the dimwit that needs to be warned like this as my husband would happily tell you ! Hope that the wipes etc work for you x
Chicken deficient
I kept forgetting furniture polish, but I tried baby wipes and yay! They worked really well. I then had lots of fun whizzing curtains backwards and forwards making 'weee' noises Thank you!
