charly1979
Ok some of you will now have it confirmed that I am barking mad But I was wondering are there any recipes to make a cake for a chicken ? People often have them for dogs don't they . Only my beautiful baby boy Julian will be one on the 4th of May (that's the day he hatched) along with Jane and Katherine my mums SL Wynadottes that live with him. So I was thinking I may bake him a cake thought maybe a normal sponge with some corn and mealworms added ? Does anyone have any suggestions it may be OTT but we LOVE him soooooooooooo much even if he cant live with me and mum gets all the joys PS: Those who know me will actually know that I have images in my head of a table with party cloth on, in the run and all chicken sat nicely with party hats one Pass the parcel is looking fun too

Margaret
Oh yes, there is..... and sure somebody will be along who is not a techno phobe like me, and be able to find it. Its at least 3 years ago I remember making it for my girlies first henaversary, Only problem is I left it to cool overnight on the kitchen cabinet and just managed to rescue it (worms and all ) before drunk son took a bite

suebee
Ok charly... Here's my recipe..... You will need........( ) A couple of large handfuls of pellets Half a teaspoon of powdered garlic One egg (beaten) Boiling water Method... 1. Add the garlic powder to the pellets, and stir around until coated. 2. Pour just enough boiling water onto the pellets to soak them into a crumbly mixture. (You don't want stodge or slurry ... but you don't want pellet shapes left either - you could use mash) 3. Thoroughly mix in the beaten egg 4. Turn the mixture onto a baking sheet, (covered in baking parchment or foil) and make into a cake shape - or any shape you like 5. Cook in the centre of a moderate pre-heated oven for about 15 minutes (or until set) Optional... Decorate with peck sized carrot batons and broccoli florets and a sprinkling (a small one!!) of mealworms... Then................ Let me know if it worked, cos I can't quite remember how I used to make it!... ...

Luvachicken
I make this for my chickens layers pellets mixed corn raisins dried mealworms sunflower seeds mix all these together 1 egg 2 heaped dessert spoons flour dash of water dash of honey mix together and stir into the above make into a sausage shape on foil, insert a stick and bake at 120 degs for 50 mins I made one today and measured using cups, used 2 eggs as mine are only small and used a bit more water. It turned out fine. You could make it cake shaped

suebee
And I am expecting both of you to be joining me in the den with matching chicken suits .......... ....... I can hear Duncan now... "Why are you all dressed like chickens?...No... I will not try on the hat...I think the whole thing's ridiculous... and I'm not investing... so I'm out" I might add, that it sounds like you'd be better off sticking with luvachicken's recipe... sounds much yummier than mine!
