Omlet cube and run

We all enjoyed the garden this weekend and even got sunburnt! I think the girls enjoyed our company.

I've started the girls on flubenvet after a really good run around the garden and now of course they're

Sulking in their run.

While they're confined I really get stuck in to a big tidy up and planted some lavender oregano and echinacea outside their run on the kitchen facing side but was wondering if anyone has found any plants that will survive inside a run?

Mine hate feverfew and nettles but eat everything else. So I don't bother

What they don't eat, they'll dig up...

I wouldn't bother either - anything you plant in there will be decimated!

I've found that my bantams don't tend to go for roses, iceplants, skimmia, mint or rosemary. They don't seem to bother with bulbs either. Maybe if those were the only choices, however, it might be different!

Well it was worth an "imaginary" try

Think ill stick to growing stuff around and up the outside of the coop and I'm going to get movable netting so I can contain them / keep them out of areas when there free ranging

I'd suggest putting some rabbit netting along the borders and areas where you don't want them.

Nothing, but nothing, survives in my chicken run

 

I have some short, thick plastic mesh that I use to fence off the borders so I can let the girls out on the lawns, in spring and summer. They are allowed into the borders in late Autumn and winter.
