I'm thinking of getting an eglu hutch for my bun who just won't seem to bond with the others. At the moment she's stuck in a wooden hutch which is too small as she can't be allowed out to run around the shed with the other buns. But I'm worried about safety. I have a cube for my chickens and I'm happy with that as it's huge and raised off the ground. With the hutch on the ground do foxes not scratch and pull at the doors? Is there no chance of them snagging the catch and releasing the door? I know it won't be by design but by accident but I know I'd still worry! Plus won't the smell and sound of a predator be a stress the bun? We fortunately don't get very many foxes round here but it only takes one!

If anyone owns one please can you tell me how safe you think the hutch it's self is, I'm sure the run will be like my cube run so I know that's ok.

I have an eglu for rabbits, I bought quite reasonably on eBay to keep my daughters two ducks in at night. They are now in an eglu go with the bars removed and extra run, but free range all day. The eglu rabbit is now reserved for intro's and emergecy use. I would have no hesitation in using it for rabbits it's proper use, having had a rabbit in a wooden hutch many years ago. It was always difficult to keep clean and warm. The eglu is so easy to keep clean just like the cube, the opening works in the same way. :D
