Siobhan O
Hello, I have 6 chickens of various breeds and one crested duck. My Bluebell, Mavis, is laying eggs almost every day with no shell. Occasionally we get an egg from her that has a shell which is extremely soft, or partially formed and soft. She is approx 6 months old. What confuses me most is that all the other eggs we collect are perfect! Any ideas? Thanks
AlisonH
Is she getting enough calcium? Presumably your others have access to oyster shell or similar so is she eating any?
Siobhan O
I have a complete poultry mix which has grit in it. It's just odd that its only her that lay eggs like this! I am wondering if there's something medically wrong with her?
PoachedPlease
Don't worry I think some young chickens take a while to get into the laying malarkey. My light sussex kept producing perfect shell less eggs, while the other young pullets were producing normal eggs for quite a few months. All is well now! Sometimes I see the shell lying on the ground later. S not sure what's going on inside her Xx
