Chicken deficient Posted July 25, 2007 Share Posted July 25, 2007 Ooo! i did lots of reading about that: All hens are born with a similar number of eggs-to-be in them, so, if you have a hen that fires eggs out like a semi-automatic machine gun, then they will run out really quickly, so I think some hybrids only lay for two years or so, whilst a hen that lays eggs on a part-time basis could keep going for a decade (erratically).
