Purplemaniacs
I know you will know the answer. I have been given antibiotics first time since I was a child and I am now closer to 50 than 40 The instructions say twice a day and with a glass of water. Today as it is well into the day should I take one now and one at bedtime or wait until evening and take one, what do you think? Secondly should I eat something first, not eaten since yesterday, don't feel sick just not hungry. Thanks Chrissie
Cinnamon
If they need to be taken with food, it will say to take on a full stomach. I would take one now & one just before you sleep, then one tomorrow morning & one tomorrow evening. Personally I think the sooner you get them in you,the better
Purplemaniacs
Thanks Cinnamon, that's what I thought just wanted some reassurance. Chrissie
Geoid
Don't forget to complete the full course, even if the problem seems to clear up.
merlina
It doesn't matter what tine of day you take them, it's important that they are (roughly) evenly spaced. That's less important for the first couple of doses though - usually it's important to start asap. Some antibiotics will upset your stomach if you take them on an empty stomach whereas some need an empty tummy to work at their best; and some don't work well if taken with milk/calcium products - but it will usually say if any of this applies, so I wouldn't worry (you can always check a patient leaflet online if you weren't given one). Lydia
Hello Sorry you've been given antibiotics. I have a long term health condition and have been taking various daily concoctions for nearly 40 years. Basically, as others have said, you should get them into yourself as soon as possible. If it was me I would take one when I got them and one when I went to bed and then resume one in the morning and one at night from there on. You are not going to overdose if you don't space them exactly apart - you'd be surprised how much you can take before that happens. You might find that some antibiotics upset you if you are not used to taking them. You might also find that you find yourself victim to one of those opportune infections, such as Thrush in either of the areas that it inhabits. A good way to counteract this is to take some form of probiotic. This could be one of the probiotic yoghurts that are widely advertised or, for a bigger probiotic hit, go to a health shop and buy a supplement. I take these daily and find they work for me, but then I do take a lot of antibiotics. I buy them online. Good luck and I hope the ABs help.
