charly1979
I have just had my first guide meeting helping with the senior section that they now have at my daughters guides. It was a great night I have just 4 girls but 2 more will be joining, I will also be doing my leadership training. At the end of the evening the girls were asked if they wanted to take their Senior Section promise and that if they did to think of somewhere 'Special' that they could take it, they are such a lovely group of girls and the 1st senior section of this unit : Can anyone think of anywhere (we have 2 with height phobias) We are based in the Bath area but travelling in the UK can be arranged

The Dogmother
Great Rollright Stones here in North Oxfordshire. A circle of Neolithic stones (in fact there are 3 sites to the monument) with fantastic views over the Cotswolds; truly magical. It's open all the time and is really special at sunset. soapdragon
Glastonbury - several lovely locations there - , Cheddar Gorge,a beautiful beach, Maiden Castle in Dorset? Dogmother is absolutely right; the stones are wonderful and its a real bonus to have 'open' access!

C&T
Top of a mountain? (Or high hill!) Wales is very close for that. Our Scout leaders often made their promise at camps, or in the local Church on Church Parade days if you have those? Do you have any District events it could be tied into? Or some event for Christmas - altough I know a few months away yet. Camp Fire investitures were always good. Something special about fire light - especially at the end of a long days worth of activities - everyone feels a little bit "closer" if you know what I mean. Something involving the rest of the group you are with - the Rainbows/Brownies/Guides. Someone else mentioned Cheddar Gorge - at the bottom of one of the caves would be a great memorable place. Think seen people being invested in zoo type environments - feed the penguins and get invested part way through type thing. Not sure if any local zoo would help you out? Do you have any Guide/Scout activity centres near you that might have something you could do? Canoeing - get invested in the middle of the lake - while trying not to fall in! I loved being a Scout Leader - well done for volunteering. It is enormous fun - and I got so much out of doing it. Only stopped due to having a young family. I am sure I will get involved again as soon as my two are old enough!
