FIRST IMPRESSIONS over a cuppa!

Recommended Posts

I have to ask...To hug or not to hug!!

When we met the other day Clare hugged me, lovely I like to be tactile and I think it's just warm and nice. I felt a prat because I wanted to hug you as you left but didn't as am always worried that some don't like to hug, they aren't comfortable.

So for next meeting hugs or no hugs 'THE CHOICE IS YOURS!'BBx

Well, now you come to mention it..........

first time i met Clare I got a shock - no surprise - as we aren't a tactile family......Carl nearly ran off in the other direction by the way

Once I've met people, I don't mind although I never instigate it :D

(that Gina will be analising me again :? )

I think you get a gut feeling as to people who like hugs and people who don't.

I like a good hello hug, but I would not be offended at all if I didn't get one, or I thought the other person didn't want one. We all have our ways don't we!

It's strange how so many of you raise issues that I feel as if I understand, like this hugging one- and I wasn't even there to give or recieve hugs. I think that we're quite a reserved race and that generally the English are a bit awkward about touching people they don't know well. I love hugs, but always feel really shy about touching other people, so tend just to smile and feel awkward. My parents weren't at all tactile, so hugs for me have almost become learned behaviour, to support, to console, to encourage and all that, generally in the work environment, or with the family at home, especially the children, cuddled up with one or the other watching TV on a lazy evening. I wish though that I felt less reserved initiating friendly hugs with pals.

It's a bit like the kiss or not to kiss when you meet new acquaintances, or say goodbye at the end of a meeting. I never feel comfortable about kissing people I barely know, even though we're only talking about ladylike air kisses to the cheek
