nin-chicken
I've seen this mentioned on the forum recently and it sounds like a good idea. I assume it is to prevent lice/mites? I use one on my dog but where would I find a chicken one and do any other forum members use one? Thanks
gavclojak
I use ivermectin, I got it from my vet who is fairly chicken savvy. It's not actually licensed for poultry and you may have to sign a disclaimer and there is an egg withdrawal period but for me it was worth it for piece of mind.i think you may be able to get it from flyte so fancy too
Chortle Chook
(EDITED to put correct names of products) I used Xenc 450 as prescribed by the vet (1 drop per 100g of bird) when I bought in a wee girly with a dreadful northern fowl mite condition and had to sort out my whole flock rapidly. (I thought it was Ivermectin but went to check and it was Xenc 450). I normally use something for pigeons (Steisslaus) and just up the dose but Xenc 450 is stronger; on the other hand I think it can only be used on perscription. It has cleared up any northern fowl mite and any lice that came on a visit. My vet said that the egg withdrawal period should be 2 weeks but that does not worry me at the moment as my chooks are not laying any at all right now Edited November 25, 2013 by Guest

CheekyPekins
I've used the pigeon one - Harkamectin - with no ill effects... There's an egg withdrawal period - not an issue with my girls at the moment!
The Dogmother
My farm vet prescribes Ivomec Eprinex* which is a cattle pour-on; it contains ivermectin as the active ingredient and works out far cheaper than drops would. *Not licensed for use on poultry in the UK.
