pinkkat
He just phoned me. If the person who wins the bidding on the hen house doesn't want the chickens as well, I'm going to have them. So either way, they should get a nice new home. Hurrah! Hope I get them!!!

Egluntyne
"As a percaution( his spelling!) I would advise treating the house for mites." That rather suggests that he knows he has an infestation. Good luck to those poor chickens......one certainly doesn't look in the best of health. If you "win" them, have the Barrier Red Mite powder at the ready. I'd be inclined to worm them too. Keep them well away from your established flock until you are sure they are well and parasite free. All the best.
Happy-Mama
Fantastic Pinkkat I hope you get them, please keep us posted. I just caught up with this thread today and was feeling very sad towards the end so glad it looks like there will be a happy ending for those poor chooks. I've just had a look at this post. One of my girls comb is so big it flops over her face. She was like that when we got her from the breeder. Apparently it can happen to some breeds. It doesn't seem to bother her and she definitely is very healthy. I do admit it doesn't look very pretty though. Sounds like they're unwanted to chickens. pinkkat
Ebay guy just phoned me - the lady who bought the house wanted the chickens too, and has collected them today. I bet she didn't want that manky house at all, and just bought it to rescue the girls. Good for her, whoever she is. I am disappointed not to get them myself , but the important thing is they have a new home . I think all on the forum deserve congrats for so much caring. Ladylucan
Ahhh so sorry Pinkkat that you didnt get the girls, maybe we should email the woman and get her to join the forum ,... then we can find out how the chickens are and what she did with the house......( do we do an emoticon for being nosey?????? )

pinkkat
Got a reply!! She thinks animals should be allowed for sale on ebay, and she Freecycled her own dog.... ...but she says she is an experienced chicken keeper and that they will be fine with her. So... hurrah? I guess it's a happy ending...
craftyhunnypie
Hmm sounds a bit suss doesn't she? Fancy freecycling your dog!!! They'd have been better off with you pinkat by the sounds of it. Ah well. Emma.x
Cinnamon
I would hate to be the one to tell her that animals aren't allowed on Freecycle either
craftyhunnypie
Why are there so many people out there who don't seem to care at all about the welfare of their animals? They just toss them to one side when they get fed up of them - I find it quite disgusting! I just can't believe they'd put animals on ebay or freecycle. I suppose they will be freecycling their children next??? Oh it's terrible! Emma.x
Ladylucan
Freecycling your animals is discusting, but the kids...... well now theres an idea I am surprised that she was an experienced chicken owner, yet she got rid of her dog, doesnt make sense.. maybe it just me......... .. x Oh well Pinkkat, we did have our fingers crossed for you, xx
pinkkat
Thanks ladylucan Never mind, my three ex-battery girls should be arriving on saturday - I am embarrassingly excited (note - NOT egg-cited!) and hope the rescue isn't called off this time . I have had a depressingly empty chicken house in the garden since April, looking very forlorn . I look forward to uploading pictures of my new arrivals, and of me doing my first egg dance very soon
