Chickabee
My POL .cream legbar, is behaving very strangely. I have an eglu run attached to my WIR. This is left au naturel, they dig and dust bathe in there. Joyce, who is probably about six months, keeps digging holes and just laying in them. She's looking very well and is snatching food from my fingers (I can't get in the run without doing a combat style body wriggle). Do you think she's getting ready to lay, or could there be anything else wrong?

sjp
a few of mine given the chance do the same mainly the higher ranking birds and the ones that are content with their place in the pecking order i.e. the ones 'you' don't mess with
Chickabee
Oh that's good to hear. She's really lovely, used to be really skittish. Maybe she's just becoming more mature. I have read that they calm down after a while
gavclojak
I posted a similar question about one of my ex commercial girls, she started Doing that soon after getting her and she is still doing it, nothing wrong with her but funny enough I think she is the top ranking girl. Chickabee
Thanks I'll order some and get next day delivery. Any egg withdrawal?
jimnpaula
Thanks I'll order some and get next day delivery. Any egg withdrawal? There's no official guidance as it's not been tested for poultry so they don't know if it comes out in the eggs or not. If it does, I would expect the majority of chemical would come out within one week.
Chickabee
Thanks. I think she's actually seriously I'll. her legs are paralyzed. Think mites are using her as a host. She doesn't have diarrhea and is eating and drinking a bit. Have dusted all the other girls and sterilized and nettexed everything. Should I seperate her til we manage to see the vet
jimnpaula
Should I seperate her til we manage to see the vet I would but that's just me wanting to keep them warm and where I can keep an eye on them
Chickabee
She's in the utility room. Going to vets tomorrow. Not holding out much hope though. She's now lost control of her body. Strange how quickly it happened, but it sounds like mareks.
gavclojak
Ah bless her. Hope you get her to the vets and they can treat her. FYI the egg withdrawal period for the spot on is 2 weeks
