Opinions please on the sex of my Orp chicks hatched September 2013 tbh I know for definite one of the two blacks are boys one crowed this morning and 99% sure the other black is too it's the buffs I'm not certain about although I think two are roos and one pullet as one is quite a bit smaller but I am no expert hence asking for opinions please

Hi its a bit confusing by the pics as not sure if they are all separate birds or the same in some but the last 2 pics are 2 buff boys you have 1 pullet and I would say the blacks are boys you can see the pointy saddle feathers coming through leanne

Just as I thought ah well at least I know which one of the buffs to call belle one pullet out of five chicks is just the luck of the draw they are really lovely especially the blacks as they have that gorgeous beetle green sheen to there feathers and although there massive they are gentle giants in fact they get picked on by my smallest silkie just goes to prove it's not size that matters

Quite right too, I am not quite 5' on a good day but at the archery club when I have my purple clipboard looking for volunteers, big 6'+++ men are scared

 

Shame you have so many boys. I do like black chooks our Omlet Pepperpot had a lovely green sheen in certain lights, not had another black one other than the silkies. May have to add a black with green sheen chook to my wish list.

Re black chooks, I have the most gorgeous black Scots Dumpy. Lovely placid nature, tough as old boots and the loveliest eyes you have ever seen on a chicken. Totally recommended. Axx
