farrowy
We have had our girls for 4 days now, and have kept them in the run as the omlet man told us too while they settle in. However, they seem to go inside the eglu a lot during the day - is this normal/OK? Can I do anything to keep them entertained more? Bit worried!! chocchick
Maybe they're nervous, and it's a bit less scary?
ladybizzy
Mine kept hiding in there when they were new, they were just frightened I think, they soon got over it!

Guest
Eadie and Josie spent almost an entire week snuggled in the Eglu when they first arrived - i think the stress of moving, and getting used to a new home can sometimes take it out on a chicken, and the cool darkness of the eglu must comfort them, until they settle down. Are they coming out to eat and drink?
arowland17
ours were doing that but we've put a large towel over the run to give them a bit more shade and they now stay out all day although it may just be that they're not so nervous anymore! The Pearsons
I have a cube.... When I first got my girls they were in and out of the cube constantly. Now they tend to do "hen stuff" in the morning and then snooze under the cube in the afternoon where they have dug themselves wallows. When we move the cube the first thing they do is dig new wallows for themselves. Wallows are NOT the same as dustbaths.... farrowy
thankyou so much for all the replies. I feel much better now - was worried it was just my two. Think it must be the heat as we have had a very hot and sunny weekend. When it got to the evening and had cooled off they where running around the run chasing insects, and they did keep popping out for food and drink. Phew !!
